About Robert A. Henderson
Staff Sergeant Robert A. Henderson retired from the Marine Corps in December 1945 after 5 years of service. After attending basic training at San Diego, California, he was eventually assigned to the USS Pennsylvania in Pearl Harbor, a naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii, on February 2nd, 1941. He stayed there until June 1943 when he decided to go to quartermaster school. He was then assigned to the 1st Marine Division and deployed to Okinawa, Japan until September 2, 1945. After that, he returned to the states and finished out the rest of his service at Camp Pendleton in December, 1945.

During his time, he earned several achievements, including Navy Good Conduct, American Defense Medal, WWII Victory, Presidential Unit Citation, and the Sharpshooter Medal.
