Creative Inquiry students at Clemson University have developed a pilot Black Soldier Fly composting system for bioconversion of food and damaged produce into useable resources. Various types of waste material from campus dining halls and research facilities are placed into the system where the black soldier fly larvae digest and convert the waste into resources likeĀ animal feed, compost, and oil for biodiesel fuel production. This project is headed by David Thornton and Shawn Jadrnicek.[soliloquy id=”20″]
